Welcome to the Raynbird Boer Goat Stud
The Raynbird Boer Goat Stud was established in 2017. Located on the Otago Peninsula the farm has a mixture of pasture and steep hillside mixture of grass and scrubland well-suited to goats.
Boer goats are primarily a meat goat and were introduced into New Zealand in 1987 for their potential production value. Boer goats are known for their:
- adaptability to new climate and pasture conditions;
- fast growth and high fertility rates;
- good mothering skills of the does;
- docile nature.
Goats are browsers and foragers and eat a variety of plant parts and shrubs, bushes, trees in addition to grass pasture. Goats tend to avoid food that is dirty or has been walked over.
